The DHF

Begin of page section: Contents:

As a result of the events of 1938, the Jewish members of the University of Graz were expelled from the university by the Nazis and exiled from their homeland. In remembrance of this time and with the intention of making a lasting contribution to the promotion of tolerance and understanding, the University of Graz established the David Herzog Fund by resolution of the Academic Senate on March 11, 1988. The fund was named after university lecturer and last Landesrabbiner of Graz, David Herzog.

The aim of David Herzog Fund grants has always been and continues to be the promotion and support of intercultural understanding and learning – especially with regard to Jewish culture. The David Herzog Fund is supported by all Styrian universities since it was established in 2005.
